Using ISDN equipment with Eterhet/ISDN Router

Postby Romanus Berg » Tue Mar 23, 2004 12:23 am

Can anyone pl. confirm/deny the following construct:

Using a pair of older (and cheaper) ISDN codec in conjunction with a
pair of older (and cheaper) Ethernet/ISDN router will yield a useable
video conferencing system? Am I correct in assuming that the router,
if configured to do so, will properly "dial" the connected codecs on
their ISDN segment? I'm thinking of using a pair of Picturetel
SS700's that are readily available on eBay - the primary reason is the
prohibitive cost of newer codecs...

Thanks!

So you want to route ISDN over IP and back out to ISDN again ? Using an old
router and a old video conference system, are you mad ?

This is a false economy, even if you got it working it would be pants. I
don't think new systems are as expense as you think.

Thanks!
