I have one old BayStack 28115/ADV-U switch, but unfortunately I don't have
the software to manage it...
I downloaded the new versions (there are no old ones on the webpage) of
Optivity and Java Management Software but don't work with my 28k. I mostly
need to setup VLANs and basic ports configuration (I had to do it just now
via SNMP..).
According to documentation I need Optivity network management software 6.0
or "something like that". It's very important to me to get this.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Regards
Pozdrawiam :-)

Urrr -- why?? The 28115 have had their day and gone again. You can do
better with a $US40 switch these days. How could getting a 28115
running be "very important" ??

Besides, the 28115 is configurable via the asynch serial service port,
using a character-based menu structure.

Maybe just because I have it. ;) It's working, but I don't have any software
for some more advanced options - and only here is my problem. This switch
is really doing its job very well..

Yes, I know that. Unfortunately a character-based menu doesn't support, for
example, VLANs - neither in normal nor debug mode. So I just believe that
this old software exists somewhere in the world so I'm asking. ;)

Pozdrawiam.

You could -try- using "Optivity Switch Manager v4.1 (EVAL COPY)"
from Nortel's download area.

You could also experiment with "ONCS v2.1.0.1 (Windows)"
(Optivity Network Configuration System).

Probably neither will work, but they are worth a chance.

Nope, NCS and Switch Manager won't work. You will need Optivity NMS,
which will set you back several thousand bucks. You are really, really
better off buying a new switch at your local computer shop. And you are
correct, the VLANs can not be configured locally.
