Would anyone happen to have a program to dump out saved [binary]
configurations from Baystack 450-24T's ?

A 450 stack will only load in a previously saved configuration if the
configuration was saved with exactly the same number of units in the
stack. If one happens to have changed the number [e.g., problem with
the cascade modules...] then it would be useful to be able to go back
and dump the saved configuration rather than having to write down all
the VLAN information before the work. {When you put a stack back
together, the VLAN information of the individual units often gets wiped
out :( }

Even nicer would be an 450 binary configuration editor, but that's
perhaps expecting a bit too much.

[Would anyone happen to know how they do the CRC calculation?]

The file format seems to be a bit of a dogs breakfast :(

Newer BayStacks have an Ascii Config Generator which will dump all the
NNCLI commands needed to recreate the config on the switch. Does the
450 have such a thing?

Unfortunately No :(

The next iteration, the 470 -can- generate an Ascii config, but it
can't read one in (at least not in any obvious way). And the 470
won't read a 450 config, I'm pretty sure.

There was a product called NCS(no longer supported, but available on
Nortel's website). You could download the config(s),then edit them.

I had a look and found the right page. Unfortunately it hasn't
been released as free (and isn't purchasable.)

When I was investigating NCS, I found something in there that reminded
me that the information that is needed for my purposes is accessible
via SNMP, so I will write some SNMP queries to extract the information
live.
