Ever since xp sp2 upgrade netmeeting has NOT worked. Am using Windows XP
home, I have disable the Qos packet scheduler, am using microsofts
firewall and have tried disabling it also. Have opened ports in firewall
also but still nothing.
I use a cable modem. I can place a call but never get any video or audio
since the upgrade. Any help would be appreciated!

The outgoing calls are normal? -- Audio/video in and out?

How are you expecting to get calls -- via an ILS server? Are you possibly
behind a NAT of some kind? Is your IP (as shown in the help about of
NetMeeting) from the private set - 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16-31.x.x ?

The know changes with SP2 are QoS Packet Scheduler problems ( but that
affects outgoing audio/video) and a firewall issue with NetMeeting in RDS
mode -- normal calls are not affected (assuming NetMeeting has been allowed
exception status).

Sorry rereading your post -- you already seem to have indicated no
audio/video either way ( is that true?)

Both incoming & outgoing calls are the same, no audio or video. Expecting
to get calls from ILS server. As far as I know I'm NOT behind what ever a
NAT is. My IP address is not from the private set. I have netmeeting set
as an exception in MSFT firewall.
When I either place a call or a call comes in, netmeeting says it's
connected but no audio or video.

If you actually receive calls via the ILS then the firewall is unlikely the
issue nor are you behind a NAT.

Is it possible that there is something at your end forcing data only calls
?( accept/make secure calls only would do that, as would some other program
running using the H.323 audio/video ports, or a group policy setting
specifying data only)

I think you're right about another program using the port......When I
opened netmeeting everything was fine BUT when I displayed the ILS
directory I noticed in the lower right corner of my computer screen where
it shows my ethernet connection and anti-virus icon, that the "windows
messenger" icon shows up with an x in it like I'm not signed in. I don't
use windows messenger.

Netmeeting will start up Messenger if you view the "Microsoft Internet
Directory" so I am guessing what you see is unrelated to your problem.

What else is running on the computer?

I was thinking other audio/video calling programs or servers that might be
using tcp 1720 - H.323 port.

My computer has 3 profiles for me and 2 other people. Only 1 person uses
the computer at a time. No other programs are running in the other 2
profiles and no other programs are running in mine. Not sure what a server
is. In one of the other profiles they have 3 instant messengers, AOL, Yahoo
and Windows but are not running when I use the computer.

None of that should make any difference to NetMeeting so I am guessing
another program using the H.323 ports is *not* your problem.

Is there anything else to check or is it a waste of time to try and use
netmeeting for anything more than just to chat with?

Well there probably is something else -- as your symptom is not the common
experience -- but I can't think of what.

I don't know what is preventing your use of audio/video features.
