Zone Alarm has zero intrusions? non expert asks |
|
|
I am running xp Sp2 with cable modem internet. I installed zone alarm,
latest free version updated. After a month I still have zero intrusions. I
am using a broadband router for my internet phone, is that blocking
everything? Do I need Zone alarm if I have no intrusions? |

If you have a router then it's blocking your inbound traffic. So you
don't need ZA for that. But you might want to keep ZA to let you know
if any programs attempt to connect outbound to the internet.

Keeping ZA active uses CPU resources. If you're not getting any hits then
your NAT router is doing its job (as is mine). I don't use ZA for the simple
reason that I don't need it, and apparently you don't either. |

Are you using zone alarm to police your outbound connections?

the question was aimed at the OP, and a suggestion as to how it might
be useful in your configuration - having NAT only protects you in one
direction.
