old Wellfleet Access Node config |
|
|
Hi,
I have an old Wellfleet Access Node bought around 1995. I want to change a
configuration parameter (ip address of node for telnet access), but I
cannot do it through the telnet interface althoufh I run as user
"Manager".
The mean to change the configuration is to use a software from a remote
PC. The old soft I still have is PC Site Manager v2.00. It installs on
todays WinXP, launches, but I cannot change fields and click on buttons
without the pop-up of an annoying sensless "<8-228>" modal dialog box.
I have tried every compatibility options in WinXP without success.
1. Is there someone with an older version of PC Site Manager than v2.0,
but not too new either, that would run on win95 ? (I suggest v 3.x ?),
that is willing to help (I cannot reach Nortel, baynetwork site requires a
username, besides they probably don't care anymore...)
2. Is there another way to launch an old dos program to better emulate ?
3. Is there a direct way to change the ip for telnet connection with the
console connection itself (like it is possible with any print server) ?
I think here, of another login mode than Manager which as limited
configuration possibities documented.
Many thanks

I am not very sure about your old Version 2. They oldest version I have ever
used was 12.
But try the following:
get wfIpIntfCfgEntry.1.*
I hope you get some lines. Pick the Interface you want to change, copy it
without the "=" and enter:
set wfIpIntfCfgEntry.1.<whatever-line-you-chose> 2; commit
Now you deleted the old Interface. Create the new one with a line similar to
the one you used for deletion. Especially, ther must be one number used as
an index for the physical interface. You will have to keep this. Just
replace IP address and mask:
set wfIpIntfCfgEntry.1.<line-for-the-new-interface> 1; commit
Hopefully, you can see your new IP interface with
sho ip cir
If wfIpIntfCfgEntry does not exist on your AN, perhaps wfIpInterfaceEntry
can be helpful.
HTH,

What version of code are you running on the AN ? (type 'stamp' at the
command prompt)
You will need to match the version of the code to the version of SM.
(more recent version of SM is ok, but usually will have problems with
older).
'95, would probably be around v 8 or 9. So you would probably need SM 3
or 4 or higher (yeah yeah, back then, they took the code number and
added 5 to the SM version. No idea why :-) )
You _may_ be able to download an old version of SM from the Nortel
website (do a search, or look for discontinued software), they dont let
you download the new versions anymore, without a maitenence contract,
but the old stuf may still be available.
