RS - can't save config from TI |
|
|
I've had no problem with doing this for years, now if I try to 'save
config config', I get an error message. I can save the config using
SM
Router->save config config
Config. file retrieval error.
Router->stamp

Any ideas ? Thanks for your time. |

Is the flash write protected? (if it's a pcmcia flashcard, check the
write protect switch on it)
is there enough free space on the falsh?
those are the first two things i'd check. |

Yes, plenty of free flash space and it's not write protected. I've
been caught out by both of those before. As I said, I can save ok
using SM.
Thanks, Steve |

Must be something else, since on my bay/rs routers the volume is
optional - it seems to assume volume 1. "save config config" works fine
on my routers. |

Specifying a volume still gives the same message, as does trying a
different name for the destination file....
Router->save config 2:config
Config. file retrieval error.
Router->dinfo
VOL STATE TOTAL SIZE FREE SPACE CONTIG FREE SPACE
---------------------------------------------------------------
2: FORMATTED 16777216 9117563 2914771
5: FORMATTED 16777216 9177987 7370095
Router->save config 5:config
Config. file retrieval error.
Router->save config 5:steve.cfg
Config. file retrieval error.
Router->

If you have specified the default volume to be 1,you do not have to |
use the vol specifier. |

Re: RS - can't save config from TI |

I have the same thing happening to me now on a BCN, happened once before.
IT seems only happens when I am logged in and the TI is running on a specifc
slot which is the case with the IP we are connecting to (classless IP
interface). When I chose a different IP that is on a different slot and that
TI conenction is on the different slot(s) the save works. I think last time
I had to reset the slot then worked OK, I have to wait until a maint windown
to see if that is the problem.
I would think on single slot routers, resetting would be the only option for
the whole router.

MC, |
This is also a BCN and I was using the circuitless address for telnet.
I just tried telnet to a different interface and can save the config
as usual.
Thanks for the insight, now at least I've got a workround.
