Accelar/Passport 1200 from scratch, VLAN, JDM

Postby Juha Salmi » Thu Mar 03, 2005 7:39 pm

Hello,

Our Accelar/Passport 1200 has been replaced with another router/switch
and now it's possible to play around with the "good" old 1200 and move
it to our network lab.

I reset the configuration and started building it up again (removed
modules and everything).

First I inserted the CPU and one 10/100TX -modules and created a
port-based vlan (id 192) in addtition to default-vlan and assigned some
ports to it from module 2. L2 works fine. Then powerdown and some
10/100TX and 1000LX cards in.

Now I am unable to attach any ports to vlans from newly installed
modules. Using JDM, I can see newly installed modules and their ports in
VLAN dialog, but they are "gray" (disabled?). I can't attach them to any
vlan, neither to default or 192. I tried to create another vlans
(subnet, protocol) but the situation stays same.

In contrast, I can create for example an MLT with newly installed
modules' ports. Works fine.

I'm obiviously missing something but I just can't put my finger on it...

It's been 6 years since I did this kind of low-level configuration to
this switch... so, Any ideas?

Hi Juha,

They are gray cause these ports are not assigned to any bridging group.
You can add it to default bridging group using JDM or CLI.
