Other end gets no video |
|
|
Just installed Netmeeting yesterday. I am running an XP wireless
through a Linksys router to Road Runner.
The other end has one of these hookups for a deaf person with their
camera mounted above the TV and they receive video on the TV.
I call them using an IP address. I get both video and sound from them
but they only get sound from me, no video.
They have no trouble with others they communicate with over hookups like
theirs.
So, don't know if it is me or them with the problem. I am using Norton
Firewall plus whatever is built into the Linksys. I have Windows
firewall turned off.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Often the QoS Packet Scheduler being enabled causes this kind of symptom(no
outgoing audio/video in NetMeeting). It does not sound like a problem at
their end but one at your end.

Thanks Brian. I tired this and it didn't help. I am wondering if I did
it correctly. I opened the Network Connections and there were three LAN
connections. They are Wireless Network (the computer I am using is
wireless to the router), 1393 Connection, and Local Area Connection. I
chose the latter, the Local Area Connection, found the QoS Packet
Scheduler and unchecked it.
Was that correct?
Thanks

Likely the wireless connection would be the connection that should be
changed ( I assume you have an IEEE1394 and LAN connection you are not
using?)

I just saw another post of yours (to someone else) that makes me
wonder if my problem has something to do with my being connected through |
a router. Do I need to be using DMZ to get NetMeeting to work?
Thanks

Generally yes -- but usually the problem that occurs is the end behind the
router(you in this case) receives no audio/video (while outgoing
audio/video appears to work ok). Some routers have built in H.323 proxy
functions so and don't have this problem(of the behind the router person
not receiving audio/video) doesn't happen.
Of course you could experience both problems.
