In the past SDSL (back in the late 80s) was not standardized though many
vendors supported one of two bit schemes. What I saw back then were modems
that supported these two different bit schemes running frame based SDSL. As
for cell based SDSL, I'm not sure. The only symmetric standard in dsl that
I'm aware of is G.shdsl which was adopted a few years ago.
