NetMeeting could not start..... |
|
|
I'm having a problem and for the life of me can't figure out why this
is happening. I'm using RDS on NetMeeting and have set this up now on
over 15 other computers in our district with like configurations, but
there's this one computer where I get this error:
"NetMeeting could not start. Please restart your computer and try
again."
I see the RDS icon in the lower right-hand corner and I go to activate
RDS, but it doesn't do anything. The option to activate RDS stays
there. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc...
I did do a little research on this before posting this and found it
could have to do with port 1503 and T.120. The strange thing is, there
isn't anything listening in on that port already and there is no proxy
software of any kind installed on the system. Anyone have a recent fix
for this that I might not have seen already?
Thank you.

I had the same problem after installing the most recent patches from
Microsoft. Has that computer been patched since tuesday's patch release????

I fixed my problem by logging in as an admin account and a new profile, you
may have to delete the admin profile on that computer if it exists. Then
run netmeeting for the first time. Once it ran in that admin profile, I was
able to run it under my regular account again.
Hope that helps

This is a Win98 machine (as all of them have been). Sorry I didn't
mention it earlier.

When does this message appear?
Can you start NetMeeting in "normal"(non RDS mode)?

Is there personal firewall software running on the problem machine?

I believe I found your problem(and mine too.) There seems to be a
conflict with Microsoft's current version of Direct X. For XP I
downloaded dxwebsetup.exe there may be a version for you. I also saw a
download for systems other than XP\2k under a netmeeting search for a
netmeeting download. Although there may be alot to go through, but
link provided below is actually were I got the idea. Hope this helps.
