So after the big hunt for Caddy-style sheetmetal brackets to mount
the plates on the wall....the homeowner tore the wall down to put
in better insulation.

So, with new drywall going up, do we have the drywaller put
the Caddy rings...or put in a code-type steel mud rings?

I would put in "new work" mud rings. (nailed to a stud) And you should do
the work. If you rely on the drywaller you may not get what you are looking
for. If they install the mud ring at the wrong hight it will reflect poorly
on you. Nothing worse then a telecom outlet slightly lower/higher then the
surrounding electrical outlets.

I like Caddy's MPLS mud-rings. They work great and are easy to use in new

and retofit work.
