Widescreen video |
|

Hi All,
What happens when you use a 16:9 video camera on a standard Polycom/Tandberg
VC system?
What does the other end see?
Do I need 16:9 widescreen monitors?
TIA

The other should see the 16:9 even on 4/3 monitors... but it's something
that had to be tested... I have got a lot of VC but no 16:9 camera!!

I am in the same position - lots of VC, but no 16:9 cameras
Can anyone else help with actual observation?

It depends on the 16:9 camera. If it's a standard NTSC-output video |
camera with an anamorphic lens, then the recipients will see tall skinny
people! Other cameras will pre-process the video by adding black bands
to the top and bottom of the picture and re-size it to standard 4:3 525
lines, so recipients will see normal aspect video with black bands top
and bottom.
With either, the Polycom/Tandberg systems see normal composite video
(NTSC or PAL) - it makes no difference to them...
