Help With SonicWall Alert Message Headers |
|
|
Hi All,
I've got a SonicWall SOHO/10 and I have it set up to send alerts to my
ISP's Abuse department. They called and said they don't mind this.
But, the messages need to have my email address as the sender so that
they know what account they're dealing with. The alerts have their
address as the sender. Is there anyway to reconfigure the message
headers? I tried contacting SonicWall support. But, my unit is out of
warranty.
Thanks. |

Hmm, I wonder if this is more a case of "we hate firewall logs, they
are a waste of time. We *know* that he wont be able to fix this, but
it makes it look like his fault he has to stop sending them to us"
After all, they managed to contact you to tell you about it...

I thought this very thing. They have to know who I am because the
messages are coming down the pipe I'm buying from them. They've got a
service ticket system which, I'm guessing, collects the the sender
email address. They must have had to do some manual investigation to
find me which they can't/don't-want-to deal with regularly. |

What will they do with the logs if you fix it.
What do you want them to do with the logs if you fix it.
It may be wth considering these before expending any time on trying to
make the sonicwall do something sensible.

First, I don't like the idea of barbarians at the gate. My ISP
(Speakeasy.net) said they could monitor, isolate and block such
attempts in the future. |
