WinXP for the last few days began entering a 1 minute Firewall Disabled state
immediately after startup. The red square in the launcher bar starts red
(Firewall enabled), then it turns black, mouseover shows "Firewall Disabled".

Unable to launch other programs during this period except Task Manager. Task
Manager Processes shows no unusual suspects. All processes that show at the
time are good (per various sites).

Per my net meter, there is no unusual activity during the blackout.

Once this one minute delay ends, the firewall is re-enabled, the square turns
red again and processes that were not launched before then launch.

Anyone see anything like this? I did Google but no SNR.

The above follows some reconfiguration of the IDE's and installation of a new
DVD burner and associated apps including InCD.exe which is resident immediately
after startup. Beofre I begin uninstalling things, I want to know if anyone...

Thanks,
Alan.
