Pc-Cillin firewall and enabling ports |
|
|
Hi, I have Windows XP with the XP firewall turned ON, I have the SP2
pack installed, and I also have the Pc-Cillin software installed and
running, with the firewall enabled and at the highest level of
security.
I have enabled port X to be open for a certain software that requires
it to communicate withg the internet. I did this on the XP firewall,
and when I didn't have Pc-Cillin this worked. Now with the extra
Pc-Cillin firewall working, I would need to also tell Pc-Cillin to
allow port X to be open for this software. But I don't see how I can
instruct Pc-Cillin to do this.
Can anyone help me? |

First off, you do not need to run two firewalls, so use the Windows Firewall
icon on Control panel to turn it off..
If you set the PC-Cillin firewall to maximum security, of course it will
block most things.. lower the security level a little..

Also:
Is this Pc-cillin Internet Security 2004-5? If so, you can add a rule
to whatever firewall configuration you are using (home network, office
network, direct, etc.). You obviously know what ports to open as you
are doing that now with the XP firewall, so just do the same with the
Trend firewall.
