Testing a modem. Help |
|
|
I have been told to install a non-USB external analogue modem to access my
banks dated eCommerce system.
This Diamond SupraExpress 56e dials, makes noises and tries talking with the
Bank but I get an error message.
Before I argue with the Bank tomorrow about them giving me wrong login
details I thought I'd test the modem "in anger" by setting up a Pay as you
Go dial up ISP and downloading a decent chunk of medium speed data.
I've tried Yahoo, Aardvark, uku & Tiscali and everytime I get an immediate
error telling me that there is a problem with the modem. Yet seconds later
if I access the modem through my banking software it dials up as before -
without a successful login though.
I'm pretty experienced at doing the above so I'm sure it's not me.
Any ideas? Is there any way I can "tell" my PC to test COM2?
