Question about link-flap errors |

Hi, I just got a job working in the IT Dept at my school, and I just
ran into my first error disable because of link-flapping. I was reading
around about what causes them and all I can find is people saying its a
faulty equipment or cable.
Is there anything else that could cause these errors? |

top 3:
bad cable (too long, wrong type, defective)
bad network interface card (NIC) or driver
port duplex misconfiguration
you can cure the port duplex problem by setting the the duplex (and speed
while you're at it) to the same value on the switch port and the NIC (i.e.
full 100 on both ends). Not all NICs (including some installed in Cisco
gear) auto-negotiate speed and duplex properly. |
