Win95 Terminal Question |
|
|
Is there a way to bring up a terminal window and/or issue modem
commands AFTER a PPP/dialup session has been established under
win95? By this I mean after the terminal window has been closed
and a dialup session started? |

I don't think so. DUN retains control of the modem's COM port until
you disconnect from your ISP. Any other application that attempts to
access the same COM port will be told that it is in use by another
program. That said, you can exploit the TIES feature of some modems to
do some tricky stuff. For example, see this post:

There must be a program to do this. I tried hyperterminal, but
that does not appear to allow anything other than an initial
connection, except for file transfer protocols (z-modem,etc).
The workaround u suggest by virtue of my webmail email access
probably will not work and would be too slow anyways. But thanks
for the reply. I did alot of searching on this, but I am sure that
there is a solution, I just have not found it.

My procedure fails if the modem (eg USR) does not support TIES. It
also fails if software compression has been enabled.

What are you trying to do?
