Beware of SBC Yahoo |

SBC told me my service would be ready in a week so I waited. A week came and I couldn't connect, so I called tech support.
Their level 1 tech walked me through the installation process over again. After 15 minutes or so, he said he has to refer me to level 2. Unsuccessful, after 10 minutes, Level 2 referred me to their so called ASI.
The ASI tech, John, told me, (breathing heavily and sounding a bit angry) that I will have to cancel my subscription because I was connected to a city 50 miles away, in a different area code. So I agreed and subscribed again.
A week later, I still didn't have my ATM link in my area. I waited until Monday before calling tech support. Again, they walked through the same process: Level, 1,2,3. Level 2 told me that ASI will follow through and I will get a phone call from them.
After 4 hours. I called ASI. It turned out they haven't done crap. After resetting my modem, and several unsuccessful tests later, ASI told me that they will have to send someone over to check the SBC lines in my neighborhood. They will also check the house and if the problem is in my end, they will have to charge me. So after almost 3 weeks witn no service, I decided to cancel the account.
Some get charge as much as $800 for a rewire and at least $200 for a visit and I didn't want to pay that much.
If they can only be honest and tell their customers that they have no service in the area, and instead of trying to buy time and install it, they can save a lot of people time and money by being honest.
All I'm left now is this cheap-looking eWire modem. |
