Hoping someone here has an idea.
Up until two weeks ago I have had dial-up server with my 56K modem without any problems. Connect speeds were usually 48K and higher, and rarely did I have nay problems.
Then it started. I started to notice severe speed problems even though my modem still connected at 48K and higher.
The phone company has verified my phone line three times now, and I believe that the analog line is fine.
After looking at the ATI6 and ATI11 modem stats, I found that I had a high number of retrains.
Long story short I have gone through all the troubleshooting techniques. I have connected directly to the NID and capped my connect speed to 14,400 and disabled v.90. Still the modem retrains. My computer connected at my work connects fine to my ISP with no errors or retrains.
I have come across tech doc that talks about the line coding on routers at the Telco possible causing these retrains. It mentions the B8ZS and AMI mis-match on line codes. Anyone out there have any expertise on this. I am getting no where with Verizon in trying to have them check. Could this be causing my problems.
