V.90 Connection to ISP


When using Faxtalk Communicator for my voicemail I have no problem getting
Caller ID to work and properly identify the caller and phone number.

I am able to use Netwaiting and my V.90 ISP connection to detect incoming
calls while on the internet. I then disconnect and answer my phone. It's not
MOH, but it does the job. However, the Caller ID info that is displayed in
this scenario is from the previous phone call, and not the one that I am
answering. Is there a way to fix this?

Are you sure you have call-waiting caller-id? SBC considers it to be a
separate service and I'd guess that other telcos do as well. Of course,
even if you don't, the modem shouldn't be giving you the previous callers
number.

It depends on how your telco packages services.

Earlier I mentioned SBC: SBC Texas has a cute little trick where they bill
Caller ID and Call Waiting Caller ID separately, the punchline being that
when you get the default "three service" package you pay extra for Call
Waiting.

Of course, if other Caller ID devices work properly, that wouldn't be the
problem...

Is there a separate caller ID intended just for call waiting? Maybe that's
my problem.
Also, since my ISP access number is V.90, I can't technically "accept" the
calls; I have to disconnect from the internet to take the call.
