Not sure if anybody has come across this. It's a bit of a weird situation.

I'm trying to setup a desktop in the office that I can use NetMeeting to do sharing of presentations. The desktop is Windows XP, SP2.

When at the machine, Netmeeting works fine, and I can share applications or even my entire desktop. No issues.

If I use Windows XP remote connection, I can run NetMeeting and use it's features including chat, whiteboard, etc. But, Desktop Sharing is greyed out and cannot be selected.

Doing searches of the web I did all the stuff about exceptions to the firewall with SP2 and that. Again, it works fine at the local machine, just not through remote access.

Possibly Net Meeting is trying to use a port that Remote Desktop Connection is using?

Another strange thing, is that Net Meeting always prompts me for the Audio wizard when accessing remotely. I don't use the Audio or Video at all, so I have no need for this feature.

Any ideas?

I am also having this problem. But it was not an issue until today and no changes have been made to our systems as far as I know of.

I'm still having the issue as well. Not sure if there is a resolution to this one. My guess is that both remote desktop and net meeting are using the same memory for video sharing or something.

I was able to resolve this issue by going to tools -- options -- and changing the directoy settings. I had to make it point to the directory we use here for my company. It was set to Microsoft Internet Directory.

Simple huh? Hopefully it works for other people as well.

Unfortunately this didn't resolve it for me. I double checked and NetMeeting is indeed logging into our company directory. I can pull up a list of people just fine. It's just wierd that sharing is greyed out and non-selectable. It would be nice is there was an error or something to reference.

Aw, sorry that didn't work for you. I was suprised it worked for me. I just compared all of my settings with one of my other co-workers and stumbled accross it. My problem was if I had people call me there was no option for myself or them to share the desktop or anything, everything was grayed out but f I called them then it was fine.
