I have a clone desktop with a modem, and a Toshiba Satellite notebook with a
modem and an Integrated Intel 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet LAN adapter with RJ45
port. Could you give me instructions as to what hardware/software to buy and
how to connect/configure so that both computers can go over our one phone line
to AOL at the same time? We use a dialup connection. And/or tell me about a
website that gives the information I'm looking for. Thanks.

You could try connecting them with a crossover cable and use ICS:

But I don't know if ICS works with AOL dialup - I suspect it won't
because it's proprietary. You won't be able to sign onto AOL over
TCP/IP on the client machine if your account allows only one screen
name on at a time, but you may be able to use internet apps like IE
with it.
