Headless VGA driver - Setting display resolution

Postby Guest » Wed Nov 30, 2005 4:22 am

Hi,
does anyone have experience using the "Headless VGA driver" on the
actual system, which runs with Windows XP? Via netmeeting (Remote
Desktop) and control panel I tried to set the resolution from obviously
640x480 to a higher resolution. But in the control panel the resolution
shown was 9999x9999 and it was not possible to change it. I do not have
any problems as long as I use any other VGA driver - but unfortunately
our system will not have a graphic card and so we need the "Headless
VGA driver".
In the internet I found a reference that the headless vga driver of NT
embedded only supports a resolution of 640x480. But we do not have any
problems getting a good resolution with our NT embedded. Therefore I
think that it should be possible to get a better resolution with XP
embedded also.
Any help is appreciated, regards
Susanne

I presume this is not a NetMeeting specific question?

My impression is that the resolution is fixed and preset(probably the
default setting is 640x480?) in embedded systems so cannot be changed
(except by redeploying the system) but you might get better answers by
trying in:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded

I suspect that it is a problem of the headless vga driver of Windows XP
(embedded and not embedded). I hoped that in this newsgroup someone
could tell me that I am wrong because he/she has no problem with a
remote system without VGA card and running Windows XP and is using
netmeeting.

Another vga driver instead of the headless vga driver worked fine - but
then a VGA card is required.

Thank you for giving me the hint of the group
microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded. Unfortunately I already tried to
get an answer there. I hoped there might be more users with computers
without a VGA card.
