I can't find a good article on its uses and how it operates in both
literature and online, i was hoping someone could explain how it is
implemented and when it is used etc. :)

Much thanks for any help in advance,
Michael

http://www2.rad.com/networks/1995/rs232/pins.htm#t15

where it says "A "On" to "Off" transition should mark the center of each
signal element (bit) on the Transmitted Data line", some non-standard
DTEs (military, experimental, etc) would require the center of the data
bit to be marked by the "Off-to-On" transition. Thereby "inverted" clock
timing.

hey again reed :) why would it be beneficial for them to develop an
off-to-on transition sampling method? is it better for certain
distances, easier to develop etc.?
