Would like to move UPSi from cabinet area to adjacent room.

Is it legal to have:

[20A L5 twistlock]...........[20A L5 twistlock]
[leviton.2310....]<---UPS---<[leviton.. 2315..]===BX==[2310]<-loads here
[female recp.....]...........[male plug.......]

where .. is filler, --- is cord and === is BX cable/conduit.

In short, UPS plugged into a female L5; UPS output jacked into a
male L5 that's connected to the BX going to the next room.

I know temporary generators have male plugs mounted on the building.

What parts of code talk about this?

Well, one can research the code, but what you really need to do is
run this past your local electrical inspector. If he/she says it is ok,
then it's ok.
