Share Program & Sharing Grayed out. (running XP-SP1) |
|
|
I have a couple of users that are cannot share their desktops thru Netmeeting
for Windows XP. The button for "Share Program" is grayed out, as well as
"Sharing" and "Remote Desktop Sharing" under the Tools menu.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Netmeeting. The problem even
occurs on a brand new installation of Windows XP. I ran RSoP against the PCs
and sharing isn't blocked by Group Policy. I have all security updates and
program updates installed except for XP-SP2. I've "googled" and searched
this newsgroup, but haven't found a solution that fixes my problem.
Any suggestions please? |

What sort of account are these users using? Does the situation change with a
full administrator account running on the same PCs?

Users have local admin. Changing to a new profile does not help. Logging in
as Admin does not fix it. It almost behaves like a GP problem, but it isn't.
It's gotta be something simple like a registry entry or something......

"Simple like a registry entry"? Not always simple ;-)
I can't think of anything that would prevent sharing access the way you
indicate other then policy/permissionsThere are both a machine wide and
specific user policy settings -- you checked both?
Other data sharing functions work?

Like I said, I ran RSoP against the PC and GP didn't show any set policy
options denying sharing.
All types of sharing are grayed out and unavailable.

All other functions are available, just any type of sharing is grayed
out/disabled.

I don't know what the problem might be.
