Can't ping won't ping 1100/1010 |

Can anyone help explain this strange situation
We have a small community of Nortel 1010 & 1100 Contivities connected to DSL Routers, all with static IP addresses. These Nortels all hub back to a central site & most work OK.
However, we have three, 2x1100 & 1x1010 where we have the following….
When we attempt to ping from the 1010/1100 public interface, to any other Internet IP address, we get no reply. A tracert from the contivity shows that the last hop was the ISP router. However, when we disconnect the Contivity from the ISP router, & configure a PC in its place (with the same IP address as the Contivity), the PC can ping anywhere OK.
Similarly, with the Contivity connected, when we attempt to ping from the outside, to it. We get no reply. Last hop being the ISP router again. Once replaced by a PC, the pings get through OK.
When we attach a user PC to the Contivity, the PC does obtain an IP address from the central DHCP server, via DHCP relay. So some comms are working.
We get identical behaviour when we try from the private interface, back to the hub (i.e. encrypted traffic).
The three ISP services are all different suppliers & different routers.
We’ve no filters on any interfaces.
We’ve tried different MTU size, just in case.
There’s no firewall on the ISP (though PCs working suggests (to me) that it’s not the ISP)
I’m baffled. Any suggestions ? |
