Baystack Access Node AE1001008 Problems |
|
|
Hey all,
I have four Baystack Network Access Nodes. Two are AE1001006 and two are
AE1001008. The two AE1001006 models run an older version of the router OS
called "AN Flash Card - IP Access version 9.00". The two routers I can
configure and get working and also use Quick2Config 1.1 to configure/connect
to. My problem is with the two AE1001008 nodes. Well, actually it's with the
flash cards and not the hardware itself I believe.
For the first one, I was going through the flash card and deleting other
configs on the card and made the mistake of deleting "config". I knew this
was the main boot config but I figured that it would just ask to recreate
another one after a reboot (I thought it would be similar to erasing the
nvram on a Cisco). Now everytime I load or restart the node it gives an
error saying "Unable to locate 1:config - Starting OS Kernel for Network
boot..." and goes into the AN_DIAG>> mode and from there I cannot figure out
how to replace a copy of the config file from either another Baystack node
or recreate one with Quick2Config.
As for my other problem with the other AE1001008, I can't properly run
"install.bat" to configure the node. After I input the IP and subnet mask
for "E11" and then answer no (or yes) to the question about Site Manager
being on the same network as the node, it tells me something about not being
able to write a line and asks me the same question about an IP and subnet
for E11. Example:
"Enter IP address in dotted decimal notation: 192.168.1.10
Enter IP subnetwork mask in dotted decimal notation: 255.255.255.0
Is the router connected to the same local area network as
the Site Manager workstation? (y/n)[n]: y
set: Object does not exist or is not writeable
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 3. Specify the IP configuration information for the network
interface.
IP Configuration Menu
---------------------
IP address format: ###.###.###.###
IP subnetwork mask format: ###.###.###.###
Example: 255.255.255.0
Enter IP address in dotted decimal notation:"
I am totally lost and I've spent hours playing and searching for help.
Nortel keeping the router OS, Site Manager, and even outdated Quick2Config
2.3 from ANYONE but registered users isn't helping.
Can anyone help me resolve my problems before I start to break things? I can
copy and paste from Hyperterminal if needed.
Thanks,
Tavis |

If you have deleted config file from pcmcia flash card you are lost. This
file is neccessary for nortel/baynetworks routers to boot. If it not exist
on flash your router have to download it from net. You can also grab flash
card from working unit, boot non working router. After you can swap flash
cards and save running config using:
| Quote: | save config config
|
command. It will create file config on flash card.

Well, I think you have differtent an.exe version, and your install.bat is
for older or newer software. That is why install.bat cant set all SNMP
parameters correctly.

Thank you very much! I thought I was lost on these problems. I do have two
working routers that I can boot/copy the config from those flash cards.
Would it be possible to just copy the install.bat from another card in the
same manner as recreating the config file that I mentioned above? ie - save
install.bat install.bat after booting from a working card?
Thanks so much again for your help!

If you have working routers it is quite easy. ;)

You can download all files from flash card using TFTP protocol. It is quite
easy, you need to setup a TFTP server o your network and use internal tftp
client on bay/nortel router.
It can't be created as config file.

Well that's just it. I've tried TFTP (I have a TFTP server using SolarWinds
TFTP Server), but I can't figure out the correct TFTP syntax....even looking
at the "help TFTP" command.
Sorry to be such a n00b =\
