ILS server on Windows XP

Postby Paul Beckett » Tue Nov 01, 2005 12:20 pm

Is it possible to run an Internet Location Service (ILS) server on Windows
XP?
If so any details on where I can get it / instructions would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul

Certainly no Microsoft supplied ILS server will run on XP. AFAIK there are
only two variants of ILS server from Microsoft- one that is included with
all Win2000 servers (not workstations) and one that was downloadable for
running on NT4 servers.

It might be possible to create something from a various pieces out there --
perhaps an Open Source (or commercial) LDAP server with some tweaks but I
don't know of anything like that available preconfigured, nor does there
exist to my knowledge information on doing it for XP>

http://www.freesoft.org/software/NetMeeting/ has info on creating Linux
based software for ILS servers - it may be adaptable for your needs.
