pros and cons of updating I.E. on Enterprise Servers |
|
|
I would like to know the pros and cons of updating the
Internet Explorer on our Enterprise Servers (not
desktops). Do most large companies keep their servers
updated in regards to the browser? I know at times that
there are applications that are dependent of a certain
version of the browse, Also Internet Explorer came with
version 5.01, then 5.5 and 6.0 were released. I.E 5.5 is
no longer supported where 5.01 is still because it came
with the operating system. There are also security issues
that must be a concern.
I would appreciate any information on this subject.

In article <4e2a01c473da$c5dbfd10$a401280a@phx.gbl>, Don says...

I don't know much about older versions of MSIE (than 5.5, which came with my
HP Pavilion, and Windows Me), and nothing at all about Enterprise servers. I
concur with Neil Smith, and wonder if you couldn't find a more appropriate
group.
I have no idea if these groups would be better:
microsoft.public.isa.enterprise
microsoft.public.vb.enterprise
microsoft.public.vsnet.enterprise.tools
One of these is probably useful, too:
microsoft.public.ie5.browser
microsoft.public.ie5.gen.discussion
microsoft.public.ie5.setup
microsoft.public.ie55.browser
microsoft.public.ie5.setup
microsoft.public.ie6.browser
microsoft.public.ie6.setup
There may be others; go where the knowledge is...
