Is there a way to setup NetMeeting or MS Messenger to use the heatset vs.
the speakers when it is running?

How is the headset setup ? NetMeeting uses the output of the wave device of
the selected sound device for audio out.

If the headset is on a separately selectable sound device you could do
this -- otherwise I don't think there is a way to do it automatically.

I have both the headset and the speakers connected at all times. One uses
line out and the other the speaker out connection on my sound card. In
messenger and NetMeeting I have headset selected. I use the volume control
for the speakers to turn down their volume when I have my headset on and am
using NetMeeting or Messenger. The headset setting is only determining how
the microphone input is adjusted to compensate for speakers being present,
it does not actually turn the speakers on or off.
