I know I'm late in this thread but years and years and years ago I read John
Navas' modem posts and found them useful and very appropriate. I had since
stopped reading this group some 10 years ago or more but now in the market
for a voice modem for answering machine use and I see John is still in here
giving good advice and squelching out his critics with honesty and tact.

Thank you John for your dedication and helpfulness. I still recall the 300
baud days where each character sent/received was displayed on the screen
(C-64). Then when I moved up to an external Hayes 1200 baud I was in the
fast lane. US Robotics HST boxes made me feel like king of the hill. I
left analog as v.34 came in....

Now if I can't get 4M down and 1M up I'm distressed!!!!!!!

Really, do he work for SBC?

I have absolutely no relationship to SBC other than as a normal paying
customer of Cingular.

When ever somebody SLAMS Cingular or
SBC he comes to the defense.

Hardly. I do believe in personal resonsibility, and that not everything
about
big companies is bad. And I post quite a bit of helpful information. How
about you? ;)

Something fishy here...

Your inappropriate personal attack perhaps? ;)
