Hi NG!

Does anybody know of any ActiveX-Control that is able to transmit Video- and
Audio-Data (like NetMeeting) with good Performance to a certain IP and Port
(!) that I could use for my Visual basic 6.0 Application. I want to make a
Video-Phone using a 64 kBit/s ISDN-Internet-Connection.

Is there any replacement-OCX for NetMeeting ?

Any Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nothing that I know of that provides what you want.-- what about NetMeeting
itself ( have you seen _ http://www.hoppersoft.com/ndnm3/ )?

Thanks for your reply.

As far as I know it's not possible to get to a certain IP on a certain Port
with Netmeeting, since the structure of NetMeeting uses dynamic Ports in a
wide range. I guess I have to search on.

What about all these messengers? How do they work? I know there are already
solutions that are able to connect from Internet to LAN (behind a
firewall/router) on a certain IP/Port. There should be some .OCX or .DLL
that would do that, but where? ;-)

Thanks again.

I am not sure what you are saying here -- NetMeeting uses the H.323 protocol
for audio/video and T.120 for data calls (and the port requirements that go
along with the protocols).

H.323 uses a fixed TCP port for call establishment and negotiated UDP ports
at 32667 + for audio/video transmission if that is what the issue is.

Msn/Windows Messenger use UPnP NAT traversal strategies to traverse NAT
routers for audio/video -- that requires the support in the NAT ( many soho
routers have this support but few enterprise level products). The ports they
use though are fixed as well.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winmessenger/winmessenger/messenger_entry.asp
has info on Messnger API's -- I am not sure it will provide what you need
though.

Non Microsoft Messnegers generally use other strategies for NAT traversal
including call reversal and server supported relaying techniques.
