Regarding Setting up Netmeeting within a enterprise |
|
|
Hi,
1. How can we setup a directory server within an enterprise - i have
existing active directory implementation in place , but when i am
configuring the netmeeting client for my AD server as Directory server , the
members are not appearing , i talked to my Sys Admin , he is saying that we
need exchange Server for this and that we need to configure existing active
directory setup for using Netmeeting.
Is it like this ? I am not very sure with his reply.
2. Is ILS a part of Windows 2000 Adavnced Server Installation , because i
was not able to see it running .How to configure that .
3. How to use netmeeting on internet , do we need to have ILS/Directory
server outside the firewall ?
TIA
Regards
Tarun

ILS is included in all Windows 2000 server -- use the server help function
to determine how to install it ( it is not installed by default).

ILS does nothing to help traverse firewalls or NATs regardless of where you
put it. It is just a convenient repository relating a known unique
identifier( the user's email address) to the current IP address of the user
( as supplied by the user).
http://www.meetingbywire.com/NetMeeting101.htm has a discussion of the
function of the ILS server.
