I am using Remote Desktop Sharing and have port 1503 opened. When
trying to connect to the host computer, half the screen is black. How
do I fix?

I have had problems in the past as well on various connections with screen
repaint(or lack thereof -- from your description that is what you are
seeing). It seems to be system/graphics driver related.

Other than updating to the latest graphics drivers on the target machine(if
that is possible) I can't think of any other steps that might help
