Somehow I don't have the CD ROM with the driver..

I threw the box out a month ago but I'm pretty sure I couldn't fine the CD

Now, I've had the modem+box for over a year.. (I was using a 14KB
but decided to finally upgrade a month ago with other add ons)

So your choices are to either try the modem manufacturers website for new

drivers or email Agere to see if you can pick up generic drivers which will
work with your modem. I remember it was also recently mentioned here that
Agere Softmodem drivers are available though the www.modemsite.com website
(if you dont mind paying for that access).

The website mentions the Agere PCI Softmodem isn't supported with the
drivers - is this wrong?

Forget Agere they won't give them to you for free when they can charge the
manufacturers for them, and forget modemsite.com, the greedy basta**s want to
charge for them too. You did say earlier it was an Aztech Agere Soft modem
right?? ;-) Well then look on www.aztech.com for the version 2.1.40 drivers.

Sorry, I was too hasty. The generic driver appears to be for LT
Winmodems only. These are controllerless. Softmodems are a different
story altogether.

I think I downloaded the WinModem not SoftModem driver, now.

THe thing that baffled me is there were no jumpers to chose IRQ.

Like most other Windows modems I've installed

Meanwhile i'm in a bit of PC crisis because that day a mont ago we
installed several things that not only do not work but also threw
off other things that worked.

If your softmodem is a PCI type, then it shouldn't require jumpers
because it should "PnP".
