Netmeeting over VPN |
|
|
I am able to connect with my son on Netmeeting when on my Wireless LAN, but
I am unable to connect with his LAN IP address when I go into VPN to access
my corporate e-Mail. Is there any way to overcome this?
TIA,
Karl Shaw. |

Your son is on the same LAN as you is what you are indicating?
When you use the VPN you are effectiviely on your work LAN -- any
restrictions you would have from that LAN connecting to your son would be
there. Likely there is nothing you can do about it ( certainly nothing
NetMeeting related).

Look at your VPN properties. Go to the Networking tab; TCP/IP properties.
Click on the Advanced button and see if "Use Default Gateway on Remote
Network" is checked. I think it is. You want to uncheck this to stop
sending "internet" traffic through this connection.

Yes, this is a good move to open up your entire corporate network to the
Internet via your VPN connection. If your company's IT department has a
clue, you will lose your job.

Yes this does create a split tunnel. However in this scenario the user is
outside of the VPN regularly so they could easily get infected and then
connect to the work network. If your company is not protecting it's
external machines properly when they are not connected to the network then
that is the security risk! Of course security education is important too.
