please, just a little help! |
|
|
i have family i talk to through netmeeting. a while ago my netmeeting
client stopped broadcasting if they call me. now, if i call them it works
fine. this happened one day a few weeks ago. none of the setting have
changed and i have no router or firewall on when calling.
basically, if someone calls me it will not broadcast. if i right click on
the video window the "pause" has a check by it and will not let me uncheck
it. when i call someone else in the family it is working fine.
i'm using a logitech 4000 camera under xp sp2 and a fast machine. since
this is happening to any of the family i call i am sure it's on my end and
not everyone elses.
any suggestions would be greatly appreicated!!
thanks for looking,
kyle |

Does "when calling" imply that there is a firewall or router at other
times?

I am not sure what that means. From your other information it seems to mean
that you do not send video? What about audio? Is it sent?

Can you uncheck and view the video in preview (when not in a call)? What
are the settings in the tools ->options video tab -- is it set to
automatically send/receive?

The only thing I can think of that may affect the transmission of video
(and audio) is the QoS setting for your NIC
(http://radio.weblogs.com/0127028/2004/10/18.html has information on
disabling it). |

I have tried both auto send and no auto send. Neither works. No router or
firewall on either ends. I can uncheck auto send/receive but it does not
work either way. I will check th ewebpage you sent and see if it will help.
Thanks for your time brian!

What about the other questions:
Does this affect outgoing audio as well?
Can you preview video (is the camera working at all in NetMeeting?) |

i can preview even when in a call. no outgoing audio either. i'm
completely stumped. im not a stupid guy and can usually figure these thing
out but this one has really got me.
i have eight people i talk with. all of them are able to see and hear each
other. i'm the only one not able to do this. when in a call, i right click
on my video window and the pause will not uncheck itself. i'm lost on how
to get past this.
any other suggestions?
thanks again, brian, for your time and help!!

i've also noticed, sometimes, when someone calls me and i try to call back
it will say they are unable to accept netmeeting calls.

Re: please, just a little help! |

This happened last night when i was trying to call my brother. was watching
tv when he called and since we cant see each other unless i call him, i
tried to return his call. this time it came up with that message. he has a
firewall but it was down. we always turn them off when we use netmeeting.
any idea how to get the pause button to uncheck when someone calls me?

How are you attempting to call back?
Are they all behind a router of some kind and you are not? |
