connection limit |

is there a limit on simultaneous connections?
i would like to employ netmeeting and application sharing in classroom, with
25 xp workstations connected into lan, and having shared app [in fact it is
desktop shared] from teacher's [main] computer.
but after 14 workstations connected to the main, the rest of them refuses to
connect, until one of previously connected disconnects.
is there a limit of max number of connections, and how to overcome?
also, how to share command prompt. win apps are shareable, but on cmd
sharing there is just a blink, and nothing happens?

NetMeeting supports one to one audio/video calls and puts no limit on data
connections. However the operating system of the "top level provider(s)"
limit the connections to individual computers which affects the number of
parties that can connect in NetMeeting call.
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;243116 has
information on the issue).

One way to overcome the limit is to use a cascading connection pattern --
have a few stations connect to one station, then the rest connect to the
first few but that is very difficult to manage logistically.

Some programs do not share (the command program among them). The NetMeeting
release notes ( netmeet.htm in the install directory) discusses them.
"Sharing of Microsoft(R) DirectX(R), OpenGL, MS-DOS(R), graphics-intensive
games, and .avi files is not supported and might not function properly." |
