A user is running XP SP2, NetMeeting 3; when she clicks on the directory in
NetMeeting, nothing happens. I've repaired and reinstalled the app, and
ensured she's pointing to the correct directory. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean when you say she "clicking on" the directory?
What does she expect to happen?

What is the "correct" directory in this case?

In default form the only directory included is the "Microsoft Internet
Directory" which when viewed displays some information about Msn Messenger
-- it provides no useful directory function (the function has not been
useful for a number of years). Microsoft provides no directory service at
this point. All ILS directories are 3rd party --
http://www.netmeetinghq.com has a list.

1) When she clicks on the directory icon, nothing happens. When I click on
it, a window opens that is pointed to the directory we use at work. This
should happen for her too.
2) "Correct" directory: the one we use at work. And it seems to be
configured correctly to point to that directory, as hers is configured the
same as mine.

The directory that opens is the last one used/selected from the drop down.

If the "work" directory is in the drop down list already, then just select
it. If not it can be added by typing or pasting the directory name into the
list after selecting an entry (unless that is forbidden by an IT group
policy setting).

Are these machines configured by your IT group -- perhaps using group
policy? Possibly they didn't configure the machines the same ?-- in which
case you should contact your IT support.

Unfortunately she can't see ANY directories in a drop down list - absolutely
nothing happens when she clicks on the directory icon. You could click on it
all day, and get the same result - nothing.

Yes, the IT department configured both machines, with the same image. They
tell me this happens sporadically, and is normally resolved if they have to
reimage the machine. I'd like a fix that didn't have to go quite to that
extreme! :)

"Nothing" as in no popup window is displayed? You could try to add a server
to the list by adding it in the Tools->Options General tab if that is
accessible.

I don't know -- obviously there is an issue with their imaging technique.

Whatever might be possible probably will require an administrator account
for the machine. It might be possible to grab the appropriate registry
entries from a "good" machine and add them to the problem machine
(assuming missing registry entries are the issue).

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Conferencing\UI\Directory contains the
current directory list for NetMeeting.

Has anyone figured this one out? I am also seeing the same thing, and
it seems to be tied to my specific user profile.

I have posted a new similar message as I didn't see this one :p

Actually we have the exact same problem. But we can see the "Find someone"
at the bottom of the screen, if we right click on it and then choose
maximize, the window appear. This could be a workaround, but it is not the
best solution.
