Logging to the server |
|
|
Hi:
I am running Win 98 OS and have installed Netmeeting 3.1 version. I have an
hotmail account. In the server filed I have entered ils.microsoft.com. Now
when ever I try logging in to the net meeting it says "The Directory Server
could not be found. You may not be connected to the network, or you may have
mistyped the server name. To change your server, in Netmeeting, click
options in the tools menu, and select the geral tab."
Please let me know how to connect.
Thanks

Microsoft discontinued operation of public ILS servers in 1999. NetMeeting
still supports use of ILS servers as a call initiation strategy though. All
current available ILS servers are 3rd party (but they too are disappearing
quickly since Microsoft announced NetMeeting's retirement).
http://www.netmeetinghq.com is probably the best place to find working ILS
servers. Many users choose not to use an ILS at all and exchange IP
addresses, using the IP address to establish calls.
http://www.meetingbywire.com/NetMeeting101.htm has a discussion of call
initiation strategies that may provide some insight.
