The resource kit will only produce versions for pre Win2000 systems.

Yes, you are right. Even if the SDK from here ...
www.microsoft.com/windows/NetMeeting/Corp/reskit/default.asp is
described with "The NetMeeting Resource Kit contains the following
components: ... The latest version of NetMeeting 3.01". But the included
Netmeeting version is from 13./17. January 2001.

And this version ... www.microsoft.com/windows/netmeeting/authors/SDK/
is dated to June 9, 2004 - but has NO Netmeeting source files included.

Both this program and the builds of NM mentioned are very old -- at
least 5 years. No downloadable version of NM will install and run on
XP or 2000.

But here ...
www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=26c9da7c-f778-4422-a6f4-efb8abba021e
I found a Netmeeting version up to "Windows 2000 Service Pack 4", dated
to 4/13/2004

The same features control for XP/2000 is found in the policy editor.

The same ? I have had a look at the policy editor and found "some" of
the features; e.g.:

Quote:
Specify URL for online support Web page:
Adds Online Support to the Help menu. Changes the target of the
Online Support command from the Microsoft Support Online Web page to
a customized intranet page.

But I don't find the function to change the ...

Quote:
Set Web View: Specifies a Web View OTHER than the default Microsoft
Internet Directory. The new server name, friendly name, and base URL
are required.

Where you have seen a control for this feature in the policy editor ?

Even if this version runs it is filled with bugs and problems I think.
Probably by installing and running it you have fouled the registry for
the proper version.

The Netmeeting version (described above) works fine. It's dated to
4/13/2004. The version in Windows XP (SP2) is dated to 8/4/2004. And I
ONLY have to substitute the file "conf.exe" in my Windows XP Netmeeting
folder with the version from 8/4/2004. I only must take care that the
file isn't replaced with the originial Windows XP version by the "System
file protection" of Windows XP.

I don't see any mention of a download for Win2000 -- it is mentioned in the
system requirements though. Regardless of what it says or your
interpretation though there is no separate NetMeeting download for Win2000
or later systems.

AFAIK the intent was that they be the same -- I haven't done a one to one
feature comparison though. It is moot though.

Possibly it has been removed.

If it is not there it does not exist I guess.

Well I was referring to the version you mentioned earlier(4.4.3388)-- this
one sounds later and is probably better.

If it works fine then continue to use it -- but I don't think it provides
any solution to your original problem.

The "switch" in the policy editor has been removed - but the
functionality is still there. When I add the following in the registry
then it works even with the newest version of Netmeeting:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Conferencing]
"IntranetWebDirName"="ExampleWebsite"
"IntranetWebDirURL"="http://www.google.com/"
"IntranetWebDirServer"="ils.netmeeting1.de"

The older versions of Netmeeting uses this registry tree:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Conferencing\Policies]

It sounds like you have enough to solve your problem then?

Thank you for your help. Even if the hint with "SDK" was the wrong way
you show me the right way with the "policy" trick.

For my project "creating a private group list" for my friends I am now
working on this project:

I want to make it unnecessary to need a separate program (my "small"
program)

So I am working at this solution:
a) all my friends connect to the same public ILS server
b) they use in the comment field a special keyword; e.g. "My_Friends_05"
c) they use the switch "Do not list my name in the directory" (if they
want). So they are not shown up in the list to other members - to
prevent calls from unknown users
d) With PHP I create an internet page which lists only all members which
has in the comment field the keyword "My_Friends_05"
e) I integrate this internet page in "Web View" of Netmeeting with the
policy trick mentioned above.

Result:
When my friends click on button "Directory" in Netmeeting it opens my
"Web View" site with a list of all connected friends.
