Marvell 88E1111 and CISCO SGMII |
|

HI,
What is CISCO SGMII?
When I used Marvell 88E1111, in SGMII to Copper mode, to make a media converter(fiber to copper), the fiber port could not link to a GBIC partner. Do anybody else meet this case? Why ?
When I look at the datasheet of 88E1111, it said that 'SGMII is a de facto standard designed by CISCO'. Are all SGMII interfaces mean to CISCO SGMII? If not, and what the different between CISCO SGMII and Standard SGMII?
And who can mail some referrence to me?
Thanks! |

SGMII is a CISCO protocol, it does not exist a different standard protocol. I have been looking for the complete specification but without satisfaction!. It is suppsed that it sends the same information as normal GMII but in serial mode, with a 625Mhz clock.
I donŽt understand what youŽre trying to do with SGMII. I guess that you have a MAC device which interoperates with the Marvell 88E1111, and the Phy output should be already in 1000BaseT, isnŽt it? So what youŽd need after is a magnetics RJ45.
If you can explain your application to me, maybe I can help you a little more.
Take care! |
