I am using Extreme Networks switches with an EAPS(broadcast ethernet)
ring. I want to implement 2 VIP's on the ring, both on the same
network segment. However this is causing problems. The RFC is unclear
on this 'should' be supported functionality.

Has anyone implemented this on other platforms (or hopefully on an
Extreme platform)

done it on Nortel BayRS routers, passport 1000s, passport 8600s. Seen it
done on Foundry boxes of various types.

this is the reason that a block of different multicast addresses are
reserved for the protocol - 1 address per logical VIP.
