Netmeeting fails on startup |
|
|
Hello,
I am getting the following error message when i start up windows 2000sp4
'mnmsrvc.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program. An error log is created'
The occurs when remote desktop sharing tries to start up automatically. I
think this has to do with Nvidia graphics cards of which I installed. However
even when i removed the Nvidia drivers I suspect it has left some remaining
things which still makes the error come up and kills RDS. I really need
remote desktop to work on this machine.
my question is anybody ever come across this problem with Nvidia cards or
Netmeeting and how to get around it. Or do you know the name of the log file
created which is mentioned in the error message.
thanks |

Why do you think Nvidia drivers may be the cause? I presume you have the
latest available ones -- and they are causing the problem?

Have you tried disabling then reenabling/activating the RDS function? |

Brian,
I think it is the Nvidia card because we have encountered this with several
machines in our network with the same card. However when I remove the drivers
the problem is still there so i cant be sure...just a guess, it could be
anything ! I have tried stopping the RDS and resetting it up as well. Always
bombs out when RDS is started. Do you know the error log file that is being
generated ?
anybody can help still
thanks

Sorry -- I am not sure what to suggest -- dump the Nvidia card perhaps?

At the root of the file system is my guess. If I recall correctly a similar
problem had no useful information in the error log anyway. |

Charlie,
If you still need this resolved, a few thing that have worked for me are. Some used together and some by itself.
1. Try installing the latest Service Pack.
2. Install the latest versin of Internet Explorer, sounds wierd, but it has worked.
3. Install the latest MDAC.
