Two modems in one residence? |
|
|
Can I use a different DSL modem in each of two different rooms, instead of
using a router? Using Verizon DSL. |

No.
One modem per DSL subscription. Further questions, go to the following Verizon News Group

Likely not. I know with SBC if 2 DSL modems are plugged into the same
phone line, neither will even sync, much less connect (even if 1 is
powered down). Even if not a physical limitation, you likely only allowed
1 DSL login per account.
A wireless router is a better option if you do not want to string network
cable. |

Sure you can. You just have to get two separate phone lines with two
separate DSL accounts. If you want to have one phone line and use two DSL
modems on it then the answer is no.
What is it you want to do? |

I have an extra Westel Verizon modem, and figured I might be able to use it
in a different room without having to send a wire from the other to it.
Right now I don't want wireless. Anyway, I have hooked it up with a cable
going from one room to the other. |

Why would you want to do that? You'd need 2 separate DSL connections. And
the workstations would not be on the same physical network.
