Hello all,

Family member has a pc (win xp) which I'm convinced has ad adware, spyware
or virus.

I was able to netmeet with her briefly, the got some popup saying something
was wrong with windows, and windows was shutting down.

Ever since, she can NOT run netmeeting - normal or safe mode. It comes back
with "program is in use" something like that.

I can't figure it out remotely without seeing first hand what is going on.

Any thoughts?

It might be useful to have the exact error message ( maybe using print
screen, paint and email you could view it?)

Nothing specific comes to mind as a known problem.

XP has a remote desktop feature independent of NetMeeting that might allow
you to view the desktop.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q267958 has a
procedure for de/reinstalling NetMeeting though if there truly is some sort
of malware on the target machine results may be unpredictable. Even if all
goes well though I don't know if the problem you see will be affected.
