Is Netmeeting planning to retire its services? If so, what
is alternative conferencing program Microsoft offers.
Thanks

There are no NetMeeting "services" (at least not that Microsoft operates or
provides). Microsoft has announced plans to remove NetMeeting from the next
operating system (it has shipped on all O/Ss since Windows 95). But the
roadmap for Longhorn (both timing and what is in and out) has changed so
much that it is possible that even that announced plan will fall by the
wayside.

It depends on what you mean by conferencing program.

Msn Messenger supports one to one audio and video calling, application
sharing, whiteboard (at least on XP) -- so the feature set of NetMeeting
and more in one to one situation.

LiveMeeting ( a pay per use service owned and operated by Microsoft)
supports multiparty application sharing like features ( and probably
multiparty audio/video features in the future).

"Microsoft Portrait" ?
http://research.microsoft.com/~jiangli/portrait/

With netmeeting I can establish a connection - but no audio, only text
chat. See my discussion with Brian in "Netmeeting and Windows XP Pro
Sp2?"

"Msn Messenger" I don't want to use, because it requires a passport.

Microsoft Portrait supports one to one audio and video calling,
- no application sharing,
- no whiteboard
- but works for me - even with XP SP2
- works also with small bandwidth (audio=13 Kbps, video=14,4 Kbps)

I am not sure why that would be an issue.
